Like the ocean, Yoga teaches us to flow, to rise and fall, and to always return to balance.
And this is what makes me fall in love with Yoga over and over again. But who am I, really? I am a Yoga teacher, surfer, part-time flight attendant and full-time explorer of life on all its levels. I believe in actively creating our full Human Experiences – and I can’t wait to meet you doing that. I sincerely believe that it helps a lot in our Yoga practice and our trust to know a bit more about our humble guide, so let me share a little bit about me with you!
My Yoga story began when I was 20, traveling through India. I was curious about every part of the culture, from food to Yoga, so of course I signed up for a class in Goa, not knowing what to expect at all. I didn’t understand a single word the teacher said – but somehow felt every bit of it in my heart. That instant connection has carried me through years of practice: sometimes steady, sometimes in waves, just like the ocean that now surrounds me here in Costa Rica.
In 2017, Yoga finally became a daily rhythm of my life. By 2023, after actually just wanting to dive deeper into practice by doing a Yoga Teacher Training, I found myself not just practicing but teaching – something I had never planned, but quickly fell in love with. Now, I get to share what lights me up: guiding others through flows that are conscious, detail-oriented, and (hopefully) fun.

Why Yoga on the Beach in Playa Samara?
There’s nothing quite like sandy toes, salty skin, and the sound of waves as your playlist. Sure, you might get a little sand in your hair, but you’ll also feel the ocean breeze, ground into the earth, and set your gaze on the endless horizon. It’s Yoga, but with the sea as your soundtrack, reminding us to move like a sea turtle: Wise, calm, and always going with the flow.
And why Playa Sámara? Like so many in this community, I first came here on a healing trip and fell in love – with the place, the people, and the way of life. When I went back to Germany, I realized I didn’t want to spend my days longing to be somewhere else anymore. So I returned, this time for good. I still love visiting Europe and being at my roots; but here in Sámara is where I feel at home and at peace, while also feeling as alive as I ever have.
Just hit me up if you need any recommendations for your time here or want to connect off the mat as well. I also teach weekly at our local community café, Chaki (sans sand!), and am available for private classes at your home, hotel, or destination of choice!
My Teaching Style
- Conscious: We listen to body, breath, and spirit – no Instagram comparisons!
- Detail-oriented: Alignment matters a lot, but only in a way that serves you.
- FUN: Because laughing when we wobble out of tree pose is sometimes the best medicine.
I’ll be honest: I adore a solid Chakrasana or a Pigeon Pose, but Warrior III some days still feels like a cosmic joke the ancient Yogis played on us. That’s okay – Yoga isn’t about nailing shapes, it’s about how you feel in them and what they teach you. And it is my passion to help you find what feels good for your specific body that specific day.
This is also why Grow with the flow is my personal mantra. I believe in growing by stretching out of your comfort zone, but without pushing it too hard. I do believe that sometimes life needs to be uncomfortable for us to have a full human experience, but I also believe in taking a rest when everything gets overwhelming. The asanas that challenge us the most are often the ones we can learn the most from, but there’s no need to force them every day. I didn’t manage the Wheel Pose for the longest time – until finally, all of a sudden, I could. Stay curious, keep a beginner’s mindset, go with your personal flow, and most importantly: keep it fun!
Beyond the Mat
When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me surfing, bonding with animals, exploring local beaches, rivers and waterfalls with people I love or indulging my foodie side. Dancing is my happy place, and although my full-night bender days are mostly behind me, daytime festivals and unexpected kitchen dance parties are right up my alley! During rainy season, I enjoy a good game night, and since I’m not very competitive, I tend to favor collaborative games.
My Wish for You
When you leave my class, I hope you feel connected to your body, lighter in spirit, and more present in your day. I always close with: “Have a beautiful day on purpose” for a reason: Because to me, Yoga is about living consciously, purposefully, and with joy – both on and off the mat.
So, whether you’re a seasoned Yogi, a curious beginner, or just someone who likes the sound of stretching by the sea, I’d love to flow with you here at Yoga on the beach in Playa Sámara and Playa Carrillo!
